Trail Anniversary Walk: Segedunum Roman Fort and Hadrian's Way
Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail is ten years old on 23rd May. The idea behind the Trail can be traced back to the 1940s but it is only in the last twenty or so years that it has earned a reputation as one of the best managed and most popular of routes within the family of National Trails.
At 11.00am David McGlade, National Trail Manager, will make a presentation at Segedunum Roman Fort on the Trail’s history and development followed by an opportunity to buy lunch in the site’s café.
At 1.00pm there will be a 1½ to 2 hour walk along Hadrian's Way as far as Walker promenade, returning to Segedunum. This urban section of the Trail does not follow the historic line of Hadrian’s Wall; it was designed instead to show case the industrial heritage of the river Tyne.
Arrive 10.30am for an opportunity to talk informally with David.
Places are limited to 30 so booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Book now via Segedunum Roman Fort on 0191 236 9347.
